Streatham Shorts III - Invitation to writers

*Deadline extended as we know well how writers work!

For the third year we are supporting new writing through our Streatham Shorts programme.

Ever thought about writing and directing a play, comedy sketch or monologue? Do you already have a piece that has never been aired?

STC is inviting submissions for STREATHAM SHORTS: an evening of short works written and directed by new writers. Suitable pieces may be nominated to go forward for a public performance. Submissions (10 minutes maximum run-time) should be submitted no later than *Monday 27 August 2018.

Please email your script with the subject ‘Streatham Shorts’ to info@streathamtheatre.org.uk.

Shortlisted pieces will be read at our "Second Tuesday workshop" on 11 September (see below). Selected writers will be notified and should ideally be available to present their piece. Last year several entries were performed by STC actors at our "Streatham's Got Talent" event in December.

11 September: Streatham Shorts workshop

This informal evening workshop will give writers a chance to hear their script come to life. Come along to read, act or simply listen. Bring your experience and feedback as an audience member, actor, director or stage manager to help writers improve the plot or characterisation and to consider practical aspects of its performance. Will STC find a new play to perform?

7 for 7.30pm. At Vinters. Members Free, Others £3

20-22 September: Hamlet off the Street

The bard’s famous play, abridged and adapted for performances in and around St. Leonard's Church, parish church of the ‘hamlet on the street’.
