Tuesday 17 September: Call for participants for our Festival show

We plan to perform the ‘play for voices’ (think radio play) Sunday Morning at the Centre of the World by Louis de Bernières for the Streatham Festival in October. Written partly in homage to Dylan Thomas’s Under Milk Wood, this play is a tragi-comic account of a few hours in the lives of some of Louis de Bernières’ neighbours when he lived in Earlsfield during the 1980s writing Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.

We would like anyone who wishes to take part to come along to this first session with director Alan Scott, where we will read the play. Parts will then be allocated and rehearsals will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

As a play for voices you do not need to learn the lines - you will be able to see the script - rather you will rehearse the character and how they say those lines. It also means you do not have to look like the character portrayed, just be able to sound like them!

Vinters Studio 2, 1b Sunnyhill Road, SW16 2UG

Tuesday 17 September at 7 for 7.30pm.
Free to all (18+), but if cast you will need to be an STC member (only £10 per annum).

*Tuesday 15 October: Fright Night ghostly tales for Halloween

Following its’ huge success last year, Streatham Theatre Company are returning to the Rookery Café, to host our Streatham Festival evening of storytelling to celebrate Halloween.

Join us as an audience member or a teller of tales as we share spooky, horrifying and gruesome tales in the run up to Halloween.

Our compere is looking for contributions to the evening:

Have you seen a ghost or had an eerie experience? Do you have a poem or piece of prose to read or a ghastly true-life tale to tell? If you want to take part, contact events@streathamtheatre.org.uk with details.

The event is part of Streatham Theatre Company’s regular monthly workshops and events on all things stagecraft. Come and read, share your tales and listen to our stories.

Prepare to be spooked!
