Want to build your confidence, present yourself better at work, or just
make new friends locally?

Announcing ‘An Introduction to Acting’ our summer session of acting classes, on
Wednesday evenings from April 19th – not just for actors!

You may remember that in December last year we announced that STC are one of 165 community
groups throughout the UK to win a £500 grant from Skipton Building Society to run a series of Acting Classes. We’re delighted to say that the classes will be starting on April 19th, and will run initially for 6 sessions.

What You Need to Know
The classes will be held at Vinters Studios, 1b Sunnyhill Road, Streatham, SW16 2UG on Wednesday evenings from 8 pm until 10 pm from April 19th to May 24th 2017.

This six-week course will take you through the fundamentals of the British style of acting, identifying intentions, obstacles and tactics. In a friendly, relaxed and welcoming environment, you’ll explore what acting is and how it works to create a piece of theatre for performance. Acting is great not only for those interested in stagecraft, but for building confidence, improving public speaking and presentation and of course, making friends. Why not come along and give us a try!

The teacher is Mhairi Grealis, a Streatham local and a professional director and playwright. Mhairi trained classically in directing at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Her work in directing has been shortlisted for awards. Mhairi has been working in Creative Learning with adults and young people for fourteen years, in venues such as the Tricycle Theatre, Richmond Theatre, and the Trafalgar Studios. She has been running acting classes for adults for most of that time.

Join STC and save £20 on the six-week course!
The cost is only £5 per session for STC members and £10 for non-members. STC membership is
£10 per calendar year, which allows you to be in any show, and gives you free access to our
monthly events.

Perform at the Fun Palace!
Mhairi is helping to run the very successful Fun Palace in the first week in October in the Streatham Henry Tate Library. If the first six-week course proves popular, we’ll start again in early September to work towards a performance at the Fun Palace.
