AUDITIONS POSTPONED due to COVID
Following on from our successful workshop on Greek plays, and hoping to capitalise on the end of lockdown and the arrival of summer (both a bit precarious we know) we are planning a production of Alcestis, abridged and directed by Mike Jennett.
You can find out a bit about Alcestis on WikiPedia here.
The key characters are:
- APOLLO
- DEATH
- CHORUS with LEADER
- A WOMAN SERVANT
- ALCESTIS, the Queen, wife of ADMETUS
- ADMETUS, King of Thessaly
- HERACLES
- PHERES, father of ADMETUS
There is flexibility in gender/age for most parts, including chorus. The married couple need to look of similar age. The parent needs to look older.
If you would like to Audition for a non-chorus part please email us for an audition slot. Auditions will be held:
- 17th May from 7.30pm online via Zoom
- 18th May from 7.30pm at Vinters, 1b Sunnyhill Road, SW16 2UG
Chorus roles will not have auditions; if you wish to be part of the chorus email us and we’ll get back to you. The Chorus will be able to read their performance but will need to rehearse.
Save the date for a first read through on 25th May at 7.30pm. Rehearsals will be twice weekly in the evening, with some weekend rehearsals. Dates will be agreed with participants.
The current plan is for three performances in the open air at Palace Road Nature Gardens over a weekend in mid-July.
