About Steve
Steve is a professional lighting designer, designing and managing
theatre lighting for a wide range of productions, from opera and
musicals to plays and dance, for tours to regional venues, (e.g.
The Chairs at The Lowry, Salford) and in London, (e.g. Jermyn
Street Theatre). He also teaches technical theatre, currently at
Goldsmiths (University of London) and previously at Guildford
School of Acting, as well as running workshops for theatre
companies. He is a professional member of the Association of
Lighting Designers (ALD).

About the workshop
At its very basic level, lighting is there so you can see the
action and the actors, but there is so much more it can do for
you. It can help set time and place, the mood, the intention of
the characters and much, much more. Steve will show us how
to use lighting as part of artistic creation in theatre. This is not
a technical workshop so no ‘techie’ background is needed.
