Description:
About Lesley
Since graduating from the Actors’ Studio in 2004, Lesley has
directed a variety of shows (from classics to new writing both
in London and at the Edinburgh Fringe.) With a strong
commitment to personal development in theatre practise, she
has applied the training received from the Globe, RSC and
Central School for Speech & Drama in her own productions.
She has recently written a radio play which has just been
recorded and is Arts Editor for Wandsworth Radio.
About the workshop
Does the audience leave a play confused or energised?
Who is responsible for a clear story? The writer? The actor? The
director? What defines the critical moment in the play, the
scene, your character? How does blocking tell a story visually
for the audience?
Using the last scene from Deep Blue Sea by Terence Rattigan,
we’ll see how direction can tell a different story with the same
characters and same text.
(No experience necessary. If you can read Deep Blue Sea beforehand you’ll enjoy it even more!)
