Description:

Jo Ostrowska originally studied theatre, scriptwriting and directing then found herself working in Fundraising for many years at the same time bringing up a family but always dreaming of doing something more creative. During one of her midlife crises she quit her job and booked in to do a stand up comedy gig. With absolutely no idea what possessed her, she continued to perform for two years, at the same time she was writing a regular blog for the South London Press. Her biggest gig to date was performing on the same stage and evening as Jack Whitehall in front of an audience of 200. She has also performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013.

Jo has also written for and directed a fellow would-be comediene and more recently directed Alan Ayckbourn’s Neighbourhood Watch for Streatham Theatre Company which she thoroughly enjoyed. She is currently co- writing a musical, has submitted a short film script for a competition for women comedienne writers/directors and frequently steps in to help with freelancing production and stage management as she still needs to pay the bills!

Jo has herself attended a couple of Comedy Coaching workshops which she found useful and is excited at the prospect of being able to share her experiences and her journey of writing to performing and continuing to perform on stage with those also thinking about doing something similar. The workshop will be a journey for those wishing to try something new and exciting. It will allow those attending to ‘Have a Go’ at writing and performing in front of an audience and perhaps a new career will be launched!!!

So bring along some gags, something you’ve always wanted to share with people, bring your ideas, bring your enthusiasm and above all bring a bottle or two!!!!!.
