Streatham Shorts – Call for New Writing Extended
28 October 2025
Deadline for submissions
Admission: FREE
DEADLINE EXTENDED – we’ve been asked to extend the deadline due to holidays and theatrical things like the Edinburgh Festival!
Streatham Shorts, our well-established workshop for new writing, featuring unpublished sketches, monologues and short plays is back, and we’re on the hunt for scripts.
This is a great way to expose your writing to the scrutiny of an audience and measure
their response!
Send your script to us and if accepted we’ll do a scratch performance and discuss your work at our workshop on Tuesday 11th November at 7.30pm. We will find volunteers from the audience to do a scratch run of the piece, or you can bring your own cast. Only minimal furniture and props will be permitted. No tech such as sound or lights.
Submissions (10 minutes maximum run-time; must standalone; no extracts from longer works; unpublished and unperformed) should be sent to info@streathamtheatre.org.uk titled “Streatham Shorts”.
Please include your name and contact details, the title of the play and the character list, on the document to make our lives easier.
Selected writers will be notified in advance of the workshop and should be available on that night to introduce their piece in person.
Please note: entries may also be subsequently performed by STC actors, for example at our Christmas “Streatham’s Got Talent” event.
Keep a look out for further updates in our email newsletters and social media!
