Description:

About Ian
Ian is an experienced actor and cabaret performer. He has
enjoyed doing impressions, characters and accents for most
of his life. He studied accent and dialect with the renowned
vocal coach Stevie Rickard and has used a range of accents
playing roles in Blood Brothers, Breaking the Code and
Death of a Salesman. He has also perfected his knowledge
by watching too many Hollywood films and British soap
operas!

About the workshop
Ian will show you how to develop this useful skill which can
often clinch roles at auditions. Using various techniques and
role play, we will explore five key accents most in demand
by theatre practitioners: Received Pronunciation (BBC
standard English), Popular London (modern day Cockney),
Liverpool, General American (standard US accent) and
Scottish. Using a range of excerpts from plays and the
phonetic alphabet Ian will show you how to develop an
accent, alter the way you speak and change your voice. So
whether you’re an aspiring professional – or just want to
have fun doing different voices and impressions – this
workshop will have something of interest to you.
